This innovative lens delivers high-quality vision, minimizes visual disturbances, and enhances surgical ease for presbyopia patients.
Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has introduced its TECNIS PureSee intraocular lens (IOL) in India, targeting individuals with presbyopia.
This innovative lens delivers high-quality vision, minimizes visual disturbances, and enhances surgical ease for presbyopia patients.
The TECNIS PureSee IOL aims to provide patients with uninterrupted vision, comparable to a monofocal IOL in contrast and low-light performance.
Notably, the lens minimizes common visual disturbances such as halos, glare, and starbursts, offering a clear and sharp visual experience. J&J emphasized that the IOL maintains a dysphotopsia profile similar to a traditional monofocal IOL, ensuring a smooth visual transition for patients.
"Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure worldwide, with approximately 28 million procedures performed annually. However, only 10-15 percent of patients receive advanced optical IOLs specifically designed to address conditions like astigmatism and presbyopia," said Burzin Shahana, Country Manager, Surgical Vision India & South Asia, Johnson & Johnson MedTech.
His statement highlights the need for specialized IOL solutions in addressing presbyopia, a condition affecting a significant portion of the aging population.
The TECNIS PureSee lens's purely refractive design offers surgeons greater ease during the procedure. Its design ensures high tolerance to refractive errors, improving the precision of the visual outcomes.
J&J noted that the lens has been engineered to be adaptable to various surgical techniques, enhancing both the effectiveness of cataract surgery and the overall patient experience.
This design is expected to streamline the surgical process and improve postoperative recovery for presbyopia patients.
