According to officials, the facility will provide free or subsidized healthcare services to 10% of patients from below the poverty line (BPL) under various government schemes.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren laid the foundation for a 310-bed multi-specialty hospital in Ranchi's Smart City area on Monday.

The hospital, to be set up by Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, will be built on 2.75 acres of land provided free of cost by the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC).

Chief Minister Soren highlighted the hospital's potential to meet international healthcare standards, ensuring that residents no longer need to travel outside Jharkhand for advanced medical treatment.

According to officials, the facility will provide free or subsidized healthcare services to 10% of patients from below the poverty line (BPL) under various government schemes.

Soren also addressed the difficulties faced by those seeking healthcare outside the state, reaffirming his government's dedication to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Jharkhand.

Expansion of Healthcare Services in Jharkhand

In related developments, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new building at the MGM Medical College and Hospital in Jamshedpur a day earlier. This expansion, built at a cost of INR 376 Cr, will increase the hospital's capacity from 500 to 700 beds.

Additionally, Soren announced the establishment of another hospital in Ranchi’s Itki area, supported by the Azim Premji Foundation.

On the housing front, six new residential towers have been constructed in Ranchi's Islam Nagar, providing affordable housing for residents. The CM also handed over keys to 291 beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojana.

In another development, in August, Sumanta Kumar Tiwari, Joint Director of Jharkhand Drug Control Administration, urged Union Health Minister JP Nadda to enforce stricter penalties on pharmaceutical companies that fail to comply with the Uniform Code for Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP).

In a formal letter, Tiwari suggested penalties like license suspensions and hefty fines for non-compliance, along with increased government audits.

He also recommended appointing nodal officers to oversee UCPMP adherence and organizing training programs to raise awareness among industry professionals and regulatory officials.
