Intuitive Appoints Rohitt Mahajan as Vice President & General Manager for India

Since joining Intuitive in 2018, Mahajan has held key leadership positions, including area sales director for India and director of commercial operations for Asia.

Intuitive, a global leader in minimally invasive care and robotic-assisted surgery, has announced the appointment of Rohitt Mahajan as its vice president and general manager for India.

In this role, Mahajan will oversee the company’s business strategy and operations across the country.

Glenn Vavoso, senior vice president and president of Asia Pacific at Intuitive, highlighted India’s growing role in minimally invasive care.

“India is poised to be a global leader in this field, with innovative surgeons, patient-focused hospitals, and forward-thinking policymakers committed to delivering exceptional care. Rohitt Mahajan’s extensive healthcare experience in India and across Asia will help Intuitive build stronger partnerships with healthcare providers and enhance patient care,” Vavoso stated.

Mahajan’s Industry Expertise

Mahajan brings over 17 years of experience in sales, marketing, strategy, and operations across healthcare, consumer durables, and IT sectors.

Since joining Intuitive in 2018, he has held key leadership positions, including area sales director for India and director of commercial operations for Asia.

In these roles, he contributed to the company’s expansion across India and the Asia region, covering China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Commenting on his new role, Mahajan expressed his commitment to expanding patient access to robotic-assisted surgery.

“Intuitive India is uniquely positioned to help shape the healthcare landscape. I look forward to collaborating with surgeons and healthcare executives to drive the adoption of robotic-assisted surgery and its benefits,” he said.

Intuitive’s Growth & Investment in India

Since establishing direct operations in India in 2018, Intuitive has focused on advancing minimally invasive care through robotic-assisted surgical systems.

The company’s technology is utilized in leading private and government hospitals, medical institutes, and state-run medical colleges.

To support medical training and adoption, Intuitive has invested $6 million in four training centers across India, including one at AIIMS New Delhi.

Currently, over 180 da Vinci surgical programs are active in the country, with more than 1 lakh procedures performed by over 850 trained surgeons.

Further expanding its footprint, Intuitive recently launched a global capability center (GCC) in Bengaluru.

This facility serves as a global hub for IT support, enterprise analytics, software quality, human resources, and post-market surveillance, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
