As part of this collaboration, Infosys has developed NiCOMS, a mobile application that facilitates telemedicine services.
Infosys, a global leader in digital services and consulting, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Nihon Chouzai (TSE), Japan's leading dispensing pharmacy chain to expand healthcare access in Japan. Further, following the collaboration, Infosys has developed NiCOMS, a mobile application that facilitates telemedicine services.
The companies plan to expand through advanced online medication guidance services and payment solutions.
On the partnership, Hideyuki Aoki, VP and country head for Japan at Infosys, said, "Together with Nihon Chouzai, we are shaping the future of digital healthcare in Japan through innovative solutions. This partnership will enhance online medical services and increase access to quality pharmaceutical interventions, aiming to make a significant impact at scale."
The NiCOMS app allows patients to receive remote medication guidance from registered pharmacists, eliminating the need for physical visits to pharmacies.
The NiCOMS app builds on the success of the web version, which was launched in September 2020 and has amassed over 1,800,000 registered users.
The new mobile application will integrate with OkusuriTechoPlus, Nihon Chouzai's digital medication notebook, by merging account and authentication processes.
This integration aims to streamline user experiences, making it easier for patients to manage their medications and consultations online.
The NiCOMS platform offers a comprehensive online medication guidance service, enabling patients across Japan to receive medication instructions and consultations via video calls with pharmacists.
The app also supports online payments, further simplifying the process. The responsive user interface ensures compatibility across various devices, operating systems, and browsers, providing a seamless experience for all users.
Expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration, Kunihiko Kurihara, executive officer and GM, IT Department at Nihon Chouzai, said, "Our partnership with Infosys complements our best-in-class solutions and scales them with the pioneering NiCOMS platform. Infosys' agility and expertise in digital transformation have helped us realize our vision for a unique telemedicine service."
By integrating cutting-edge digital solutions, the partnership aims to transform the landscape of pharmaceutical services in Japan, making healthcare more accessible and efficient for millions of patients.
In another development, Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Infosys, in partnership with Bengaluru-based biotech innovation hub, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), launched project 'Early Life' in Karnataka in February this year.
The C-CAMP-Infosys Foundation Project, the Early Life initiative, aims to improve healthcare services for pregnant women and infants in the state. This move aligns with the government's aim to bolster maternity care for expectant mothers and newborns in the state.
