Indian Healthcare 3.0 to Witness the Emergence of Smart Consumer: FICCI-KPMG Report

The Indian healthcare sector is undergoing a significant transformation that challenges traditional norms, focusing on technology integration and a patient-centric approach.

To explore the evolving healthcare landscape in India, FICCI and KPMG in India have jointly released a report titled 'New Age Healthcare Delivery Models in India.'

This report unveiled at the 17th edition of FICCI's annual healthcare conference - 'FICCI HEAL 2023,' aims to understand the impact of changing healthcare determinants and related challenges. It further highlights the importance of adopting new-age healthcare delivery models.

The report talks about 10 key enablers that are transforming healthcare models. One of the key enablers, as per the report, highlights that Indian consumers are becoming more health-conscious. It leads to the emergence of smart consumers and Healthcare 3.0 will witness the emergence of the smart consumer.

Further, it notes the active involvement of patients, families, and communities in healthcare planning, implementation and evaluation.

Transforming healthcare providers toward patient-centric care and technology-enabled specialised services is another enabler as per the report.

It further talks about personalised, real-time, evidence-based healthcare services through digital technology and data as another enabler.

Collaboration among healthcare providers, payers, and tech firms for enhanced expertise and resource sharing gets highlighted by the report as well.

Commenting on the report, Lalit Mistry, partner and co-head, healthcare sector, KPMG, India said, “This FICCI- KPMG in India report has meticulously examined existing and emerging healthcare delivery models in a comprehensive knowledge paper. Through consultations with diverse stakeholders in both public and private sectors, insights were gained into innovative models that hold the potential to redefine India's healthcare sector.”
