India has long been recognized as the pharmacy of the world, supplying affordable generic medicines to over 200 countries.
However, according to him, the nation is now transitioning from a volume-based industry to a value-driven approach, focusing on innovation, research, and high-value biopharmaceuticals.
Goyal emphasized that Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for pharmaceuticals, bulk drugs, and medical devices, along with initiatives like the Genome India Project, position India to lead the next phase of healthcare manufacturing and biotechnology advancements.
He further noted that, over the past decade, India has implemented transformational reforms in public healthcare.
Initiatives such as free medical treatment for millions, the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and modernized medical infrastructure have significantly improved healthcare accessibility.
Goyal also pointed out the recent budget provisions that offer significant concessions on life-saving drugs, including cancer treatments, further strengthening India’s healthcare framework.
Highlighting Telangana’s growing role in healthcare and industrial development, Goyal noted key projects such as the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal, an industrial node in Zaheerabad, and AIIMS Bibinagar.
He also recalled the launch of the National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad, which supports India’s leadership in medicinal plant-based products.
Encouraging global investors, Goyal urged industry leaders to capitalize on India’s expanding healthcare sector.
