The initiative will be housed on the IIT Kanpur campus, serving as the technological hub for developing the Digital Health Stack.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth have announced collaboration on the Uttar Pradesh Digital Health Stack project, which aims to enhance the state's healthcare infrastructure.
The Digital Health Stack will be implemented within the public healthcare system of Uttar Pradesh, providing a transformative boost to health services.
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ICICI Foundation will provide significant funding over several years to support the project’s development.
This initiative combines cutting-edge technology, medical research, and innovation to improve healthcare delivery across the state.
The project aims to advance MedTech devices, improve point-of-care (POC) services, and strengthen the state’s public healthcare capabilities.
Additionally, it will leverage AI-integrated devices to enhance the early detection of chronic diseases.
The initiative will be housed on the IIT Kanpur campus, serving as the technological hub for developing the Digital Health Stack.
Commenting on the development, Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, "With the core expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and a thriving MedTech ecosystem, the Institute is well poised to provide necessary technological support to the mission of developing the Digital Health Stack. We are grateful to ICICI Foundation for their generous contribution towards this initiative and look forward to a successful endeavor."
Sanjay Datta, President of ICICI Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s focus on capacity-building within the healthcare sector.
He expressed confidence that the partnership with IIT Kanpur will contribute to digitizing and improving the public healthcare system in Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier this year, IIT Kanpur signed an MoU with the Uttar Pradesh government to collaborate on the research and development of the UP Digital Health Stack under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, further cementing the institution’s role in transforming healthcare in the state.
In a similar recent development, the National Health Authority (NHA) and IIT Kanpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a cutting-edge platform that sought to utilize AI to improve health outcomes.
The partnership aims to develop a federated learning platform with features such as a quality-preserving database, AI benchmarking, and a consent management system under ABDM.
The platform will be governed by the NHA, unlocking AI’s potential to enhance healthcare across India.
