The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH), in collaboration with Nikon India, has inaugurated India’s first Microscopy Centre of Excellence (CoE) on its campus.
The facility aims to provide researchers access to state-of-the-art microscopy technologies for exploring biological systems at multiple scales, from single cells to human tissues.
Shourya Dutta Gupta, Centre Coordinator, said, "Leveraging its extensive resources, technical expertise, and experienced staff, the centre will address critical challenges in cell biology and other research areas."
He further highlighted the advanced equipment available at the CoE, including an inverted microscope for fluorescence imaging, an inverted tissue culture microscope, and a Nikon SMZ 800 with a fluorescence attachment for macro imaging.
Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India, said, "Our goal is to foster an innovative learning environment that encourages further developments and benefits the community at large."
The CoE is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, enabling researchers to tackle complex challenges across various scientific disciplines.
"This initiative aligned perfectly with the institute's goal of fostering innovative research and diverse learning opportunities," IITH Director BS Murty stated.
In October, Nikon India, a subsidiary of Nikon Corporation, inaugurated India’s first experience center dedicated exclusively to its healthcare product range at its Gurgaon headquarters.
This facility is designed to provide healthcare professionals, researchers, and academic institutions with hands-on experience with Nikon's advanced microscopy solutions.
