US-based Humana has invested an undisclosed amount in Healthpilot, an US-based AI-enabled platform designed to simplify the search and enrollment process for Medicare plans. The financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.
This strategic move aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in member experiences.
Healthpilot will continue to operate as a payer-agnostic platform, providing consumer-specific guidance to help potential enrollees find plans tailored to their individual needs. It aims to offer personalized and streamlined digital enrollment experiences, the startup noted.
David Dintenfass, president of enterprise growth at Humana, emphasized the significance of this investment in the company's digital strategy.
"The investment is a key step in our strategy around digital and underscores our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to further enhance payer-agnostic, omnichannel broker capabilities,” he noted.
Humana’s investment through its brokerage unit supports both companies' efforts to create a more efficient and user-friendly Medicare enrollment process.
Dintenfass further said, "Healthpilot’s platform provides a more personalized and simpler digital enrollment experience for seniors. We are excited to improve the education, shopping, and enrollment experiences for customers that purchase Medicare products from Healthpilot. By leveraging Healthpilot’s advanced analytics and AI, beneficiaries can be paired with plans that best meet their needs, thereby enhancing their overall healthcare experience."
Healthpilot's platform, which leverages advanced analytics and AI, is built on research by cofounder Jonathan Kolstad, PhD.
It uses a consumer's health profile, provider preferences, pharmaceutical needs, and cost requests to match them to Medicare plans. In most cases, users can apply for the plan of their choice without assistance from Healthpilot's support team.
Commenting on the same, Seth Teich, CEO of Healthpilot, said, "We are pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate more closely with Humana. Their financial investment will fuel our ambitious goals of improving our customer product experience, growing our brand online, accelerating data analytics, and enhancing our AI capabilities. These advancements will allow us to better serve the millions of seniors in need of a simplified digital shopping experience."
Furthermore, Healthpilot will continue to operate independently while leveraging Humana’s support to enhance its platform.
Healthpilot's approach, which includes advanced analytics and AI, aims to match beneficiaries with plans that align with their specific health needs and preferences. This data-driven method enhances the accuracy and efficiency of the enrollment process, providing a tailored experience for each user.
The investment reflects a broader trend in the healthcare industry towards integrating advanced technologies to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
