Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Monday that the Congress-led state government will invest INR 1,570 crore to modernize healthcare infrastructure by acquiring advanced medical equipment.

The government plans to equip state medical colleges with cutting-edge technologies, including robotic surgery facilities in departments such as Neurology and Oncology.
These upgrades aim to improve patient care and reduce the workload on doctors. Additionally, modern PET Scan and MRI machines will be installed in key medical institutions to expand diagnostic capabilities.
A major component of the initiative is the establishment of an INR 300 crore Cancer Care Centre of Excellence at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur.
The center will feature a cyclotron machine and 150 dedicated beds, making it a hub for advanced cancer treatment in the state.
The government also plans to upgrade 69 healthcare facilities with enhanced safety measures, modular operation theatres, and in-house laboratories.
These improvements aim to curb patient migration while promoting medical tourism.
Speaking at the event, CM Sukhu reiterated the government’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare to citizens, with additional funding assured if necessary.
Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil and several officials were present during the announcement.
