Healthcare data platform Innovaccer has established an AI advisory board to harness the potential of AI in healthcare, the company said in an announcement on Tuesday.
The board will help tap the potential of Gen AI by focusing on technologies such as Conversational AI and Generative pre-trained transformers (GPT) to ensure customer satisfaction.
On the other hand, it will guide Innovaccer’s executive team by providing strategic direction to achieve better health outcomes, health equity, lower costs, and improved care experiences for both patients and healthcare workers, the statement said.
Founded in 2014 in Bengaluru by Abhinav Shashank, Kanav Hasija, and Sandeep Gupta, Innovaccer provides cloud-based data analytics platform for healthcare providers and payers. In 2021, it raised $150 mn in Series E funding round with its total funding amounting to $375 mn.
The company recently launched a new AI provider companion and analytics suite upgrade at HIMSS24.
Commenting on the development Abhinav Shashank, cofounder and CEO of Innovaccer said, “The healthcare industry is going through a transformation and AI will play a pivotal role in this.”
He highlighted that Artificial Intelligence has the potential to improve clinical outcomes by reducing costs and improving efficiencies. He also underscored that Innovaccer will make significant investments in healthcare AI solutions over the next decade.
“Over the next ten years, we will invest significantly in AI solutions for healthcare. With our AI suite tailored for healthcare, we will execute with an unwavering commitment to its accuracy, privacy, security, and compliance,” Shashank said.
Innovaccer’s AI Advisory board will comprise healthcare and technology experts including Rohini Kosoglu, Dheeraj Pandey, Mike Abbott, and Alex Gorelik.
While Gorelik is known in the industry for his expertise in data lakes, Hadoop, data integration as well as data quality, distributed systems, and data governance, Pandey is an influential voice in AI and technology.
Reacting to the association, Gorelik noted the role of advancement in computing and big data technologies in improving AI application across industries.
He said, “Data is at the center of developing advanced technologies. Democratizing data and improving time to value are the focus areas now. Over the last 20 years, advancements in computing and big data have enabled AI to be applied more broadly.”
On the other hand, Pandey emphasized on technological transformation since the launch of ChatGPT.
Pandey said, “ChatGPT was a black swan event in our lives. The technology landscape has changed forever. Paradoxically, AI has the potential to bring more humanism to customer and patient care this decade.”
Another advisory board member Mike Abbott has years of experience of working with big tech companies including Apple, Twitter, GM etc. with a focus on cloud computing, storage and security.
On the other hand, Rohini Kosoglu, is a policy advisor and former domestic policy advisor to US Vice President Kamala Harris. Apart from that, she has also had a key contribution in bringing healthcare transformation, changes in economic and technology policies for the past two decades.
Artificial Intelligence is one of the prominent trends in healthcare in 2024. As health systems wake up to the potential of AI, several companies are racing to achieve an AI-first approach.
However, with the concerns of privacy and safety around AI, healthcare leaders in the US decided to join forces.
Recently, they launched Trustworthy & Responsible AI Network (TRAIN) with Microsoft as a technology partner at HIMSS 2024.
The network aims to operationalize responsible AI principles to improve the quality, safety and trustworthiness of AI in health.
Several top health systems have partnered in the network including Johns Hopkins Medicine, Mass General Brigham, Cleveland Clinic, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, AdventHealth etc.
