The initiative aims to address challenges in the existing registration system and simplify the process for doctors and healthcare institutions.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is set to introduce an upgraded web portal aimed at streamlining the registration process for new hospitals and clinical establishments across the country, as per TOI's report.
The new system is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and ease of use for healthcare providers.
The upgraded platform, currently in its final development stage, will also facilitate fee payments and other regulatory procedures associated with clinical establishments.
The initiative aims to address challenges in the existing registration system and simplify the process for doctors and healthcare institutions.
The development follows a query raised in Parliament by BJP's Rajya Sabha member, Dr. Ajeet Gopchade, who sought the establishment of a uniform single-window clearance system for doctors wishing to start new hospitals.
In a written response on February 12, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, confirmed that the government already operates a web portal for registering clinical establishments, including private hospitals, diagnostic centers, and clinics, under The Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2010.
She stated that the portal is undergoing an upgrade to Version 2.0, which will significantly improve its functionality.
Patel noted that once upgraded, the portal will serve as a comprehensive platform for registration, regulation, fee payments, and compliance reporting.
"The new version will ensure a more robust, transparent, and user-friendly system for healthcare providers," she said.
Dr. Gopchade welcomed the initiative and highlighted its potential benefits for health professionals.
"The single-window system will be a major relief, saving time and effort while eliminating inefficiencies in the current process," he said.
The upgraded portal is expected to streamline operations and improve regulatory compliance, benefiting healthcare providers and strengthening India's healthcare infrastructure.
