The clinic addresses a growing need for early detection and intervention among individuals with a family history of cancer.
HCG Manavata Cancer Centre (HCGMCC) has launched the Vansham Clinic in Nashik, a dedicated facility to raise awareness about hereditary cancers and provide preventive screenings.
The clinic addresses a growing need for early detection and intervention among individuals with a family history of cancer.
It offers personalized healthcare solutions, genetic counseling, and targeted screenings, intending to identify cancer risks early and reduce cancer-related fatalities.
The Vansham Clinic comes at a time when cancer cases in India are increasing at an alarming rate, with over 1.4 million new cases reported each year. A significant portion of these cases is linked to genetic predisposition.
Dr Raj Nagarkar, MD and Chief of Surgical Oncology & Robotic Services at HCGMCC, highlighted the urgent need for such initiatives.
“India is witnessing a sharp rise in cancer cases, with many driven by genetic factors. Individuals with a family history of cancers like breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers face a 5 to 10 percent higher risk of developing the disease. Our goal with the Vansham Clinic is to close the hereditary cancer awareness and management gap. Many families are unaware of their genetic risks, which leads to missed opportunities for early diagnosis and treatment,” said Dr Nagarkar.
The clinic focuses on hereditary cancers to address this knowledge gap, offering advanced genetic counseling and screenings designed to identify those at higher risk.
The emphasis is on early detection, which can significantly improve survival rates and reduce healthcare costs.
Vansham Clinic operates with a specialized team of genetic counselors and oncologists trained to provide personalized care. The clinic offers targeted screenings for hereditary cancers, such as breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers. Individuals at higher risk receive tailored preventive healthcare plans, and ongoing surveillance ensures timely intervention.
“At Vansham Clinic, we provide focused screenings and lifestyle counseling to help patients make informed health decisions. We also offer continuous follow-up care and preventive services for individuals with a higher genetic risk,” added Dr Nagarkar.
The clinic aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their cancer risk proactively. Vansham Clinic prioritizes educating patients and their families about hereditary risks and guiding them through appropriate preventive measures.
Founded in 2007 by Dr Raj Nagarkar, HCGMCC is Central India’s first NABH-accredited cancer care facility. With a team of over 50 consultant oncologists and 900 staff members, the center has a capacity of 275 beds. It provides a comprehensive range of cancer treatments, including surgical, radiation, and medical oncology.
