On the occasion of Haryana Day, observed on 1st November, CM Manohar Lal Khattar unveiled two initiatives aimed at enhancing the healthcare and well-being of the people of the state.
First, the government expanded the Ayushman/Chirayu Scheme to offer coverage to families with an annual income ranging from INR 1.8 Lakh to INR 3 Lakh. Earlier, it was confined to families with an annual income below INR 1.8 Lakh. It now encompasses an additional 38,000 families.
The Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu Haryana Yojana was introduced to further extend the Ayushman Bharat scheme’s reach and inclusivity. It was merged to expand its coverage further enhancing the healthcare and well-being of the people of Haryana.
Second, the Haryana government launched a cashless health facility for state government employees, accredited journalists, pensioners/family pensioners and their dependents. This facility will offer cashless treatment for 1,340 diseases across 569 empanelled hospitals in Haryana. The initial phase incorporates 894 employees from the Fisheries and Horticulture Departments, encompassing 1,055 disease packages and 305 hospitals.
Reportedly, the beneficiaries will get cashless medical services up to INR 5 Lakh.
Further at the launch event, Ayushman/Chirayu scheme cards were also distributed to eligible families.
Earlier, several state governments took such initiatives including Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. These schemes aim to provide comprehensive health insurance at low premiums to the citizens of India, ensuring that healthcare is accessible and affordable for all.
In September this year, the Health Department of Haryana started the Ayushman Bhava Campaign. The primary objective of the campaign was to create and distribute Ayushman health cards to all eligible beneficiaries, enhancing healthcare access in the state. Moreover, awareness drives on various health aspects, including hygiene, nutrition, diseases, screening services, and health schemes, were also organised across all districts.
Days back, during ‘CM ki Vishesh Charcha’’, the Haryana CM applauded its e-Sanjeevani teleconsultation service for its effectiveness in ensuring healthcare access to all, even in remote areas and amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The e-Sanjeevani service has been accessible 24 hours daily in Haryana since August 16, 2021. In the fiscal year 2022-23, 1.02 Lakh consultations were provided through the e-Sanjeevani OPD, marking a significant milestone in the state's healthcare initiatives. Khattar emphasised that this service is a testament to the evolution of digital health in India.
