Gurugram-based healthtech startup Bharosa has unveiled a patient experience platform that claims to be India's first dedicated space for patients to share their experiences and reviews of medical professionals.
This initiative seeks to fill a critical gap left by larger tech companies that have not provided a platform specifically for patient feedback.
Commenting on the platform, Vandit Jain, cofounder and CEO of Bharosa, said, "Indian patients are eager to express their experiences but often feel overlooked by big tech. Our platform aims to address this issue by offering a dedicated space for patients to share their experiences."
Jain envisions Bharosa becoming the "Glassdoor for Indian healthcare," providing a solution to the problem of inaccessible and unreliable medical reviews.
Initially, Bharosa focuses on Gurugram, allowing patients to submit detailed, anonymous feedback and reviews about their doctors.
To ensure the authenticity of these reviews, Bharosa employs the latest verification method: patients must provide proof of their visit, such as a prescription copy or invoice. This approach aims to enhance the accuracy and trustworthiness of the reviews.
Sharing thoughts, Dr Amit Gupta, cofounder and chief medical officer, said, "Indian patients struggle to find trustworthy doctors online, as many medical professionals manipulate review systems. Our platform aims to give a complete and nuanced view beyond simplistic star ratings."
Nidhi Bharani, cofounder and chief AI officer, highlighted the company's plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the platform.
"Our AI development is in full swing, and we aim to revolutionize search and discovery in healthcare within the next three months," she said.
This technological enhancement is expected to improve how patients find and evaluate healthcare providers.
Bharosa has committed INR 5 Lakhs to patient-related causes to support the patient community further and offers reimbursement of up to INR 500 for prescriptions to patients who share their experiences on the platform.
This initiative aims to incentivize honest feedback and support patients financially.
The launch of Bharosa comes at a time when the Feedback and Reviews Management Software Market is projected to grow significantly, from $10.11 billion in 2024 to $28.04 billion by 2031, with a CAGR of 13.60%.
While leading healthtech businesses such as Practo, Medibuddy, and Lybrate dominate the Indian market, Bharosa seeks to differentiate itself by focusing solely on patient reviews rather than referrals and bookings.
"This platform is a long-overdue democratization of Indian healthcare and represents a missed opportunity by previous health-tech ventures," CEO Jain added.
The platform aims to empower patients with reliable information and transform their healthcare experiences. It remains to be seen how this new platform will influence the healthcare landscape in India.
