This partnership is expected to bolster global healthcare services, with a strong focus on improving diagnostic capabilities in underserved areas.
Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics has announced a significant $30 million investment in San Jose-based OptraSCAN to develop AI-driven diagnostic testing equipment.
This partnership is expected to bolster global healthcare services, with a strong focus on improving diagnostic capabilities in underserved areas.
Speaking about the development, Sriram Natarajan, CEO of Molbio Diagnostics, said, “The strategic alliance with OptraSCAN is a significant step in our mission to make healthcare diagnostic devices accessible in India and beyond.” He further emphasized that leveraging advanced technology would "help enhance patient care and ensure access to timely and accurate diagnostics for patients."
The collaboration will prioritize cloud-based systems for efficient slide scanning, image analysis, and secure data storage.
Further, these technologies aim to facilitate faster and more precise diagnostic outcomes while improving accessibility in rural regions.
The partnership will support OptraSCAN’s research and development of innovative diagnostic equipment that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with diagnostic testing. This AI-centric approach is designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, especially in high-need areas where medical infrastructure is limited.
Abhi Gholap, founder and CEO of OptraSCAN, highlighted the collaboration's broader vision, stating, “This partnership will bridge significant gaps in healthcare by providing scalable solutions that can improve diagnostic quality across geographies.”
Molbio and OptraSCAN’s initiative is aimed at creating technologies that are not only sophisticated but also scalable for widespread use. By integrating AI into diagnostics, the partnership seeks to address challenges in resource-limited settings, ensuring a higher standard of patient care.
