Geri Care Launches Cath Lab for Senior Citizens in Adambakkam, Chennai

This initiative aims to elevate cardiac healthcare services for the elderly, addressing their needs comprehensively.

Chennai-based Geri Care, a leading elder-care services provider, has unveiled a dedicated cath lab for senior citizens at its latest multi-specialty hospital in Adambakkam, Chennai. 

The newly inaugurated cath offers specialized diagnostic and interventional services for elderly patients. The move aims to elevate cardiac healthcare services for the elderly, addressing their needs comprehensively.

Equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging technology, the facility offers a wide range of tests and procedures, including ablation, angiogram, angioplasty, and pacemaker/ICD implantation.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr Lakshmipathy Ramesh, founder & MD of Geri Care Health Services, said, "The launch of the geriatric cath lab at Geri Care Hospital is an enabler for important tests and procedures related to cardiac health for senior citizens."

Cardiac Care Under One Roof

The cath lab at Geri Care Hospital addresses the need for elderly patients to travel for cardiac tests and procedures, ensuring convenience and accessibility. 

Sharing insights, Dr Muthuswamy, senior interventional cardiologist at Geri Care Health Services, said, "Elderly patients need not be transported for tests and procedures like angiograms and angioplasty, with the cath lab facility now available under the same roof."

Over twenty geriatric specialists at the hospital consultants cover various disciplines, such as neurology, pulmonology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and dentistry. This integrated model aims to provide holistic healthcare solutions tailored to the unique needs of senior citizens.

Founded in 2018 by Dr Lakshmipathy Ramesh, Geri Care has emerged as a frontrunner in providing dedicated healthcare services for the elderly, focusing on global standards of quality and compassion. 

Geriatric Healthcare in India

Geri Care's aim to enhance geriatric healthcare is echoed by recent developments in the sector. 

SIS Limited, a prominent security, facility management, and cash logistics player substantially invested INR 10.16 Cr in healthtech startup Age Care Labs. The investment signifies growing recognition of the importance of catering to the healthcare needs of the elderly population.

Age Care Labs, the parent platform of Emoha Elder Care and Epoch Elder Care, garnered support from various stakeholders, including family offices, HNIs, and institutional funds. 

While the elderly care market in India is still at a nascent stage, it is growing rapidly as the senior population grows to account for 20% of the country's population by 2050.

The market for senior living in India was valued at about $10.15 billion as of 2022 and is expected to reach a significant size by 2030, with a growing demand for medical and non-medical senior care products.

This surge in the total addressable market (TAM) is driving growth in the senior care market, with healthcare constituting 31% of senior citizens' total spending.
