The G-Gaiter Paediatric integrates advanced Virtual Reality (VR) technology and real-time interactive games to provide an engaging and immersive therapy experience for children.
In a significant move for pediatric physical rehabilitation, Genrobotics, a leading robotics company, claims to have launched India’s first robotic-assisted Paediatric Gait Trainer, G-Gaiter Paediatric.
The G-Gaiter Paediatric integrates advanced Virtual Reality (VR) technology and real-time interactive games to provide an engaging and immersive therapy experience for children.
It leverages Genrobotics' patented GPLOT Exoskeleton Technology, enabling precise robotic gait therapy to help children develop natural walking patterns.
The newly launched device operates in Intelligent Therapy Mode, allowing children to relearn motor patterns, improve muscle coordination, and enhance functional mobility.
The device, designed for children with mobility challenges such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and brain or spinal cord injuries, was inaugurated by Kerala Health Minister Veena George during a ceremony at the C-DAC auditorium in Technopark on Friday.
The Health Minister handed over the first G-Gaiter Paediatric unit to Sabith Umer, Vice-Chairman of the Kannur-based Thanal Group, a charitable trust, marking the device's introduction into the healthcare ecosystem.
Vimal Govind M K, CEO of Genrobotics, said, “Our goal is to ensure individuals with gait challenges, regardless of age, have access to advanced rehabilitation solutions.”
Additionally, Kerala Health Minister Veena George praised the G-Gaiter Paediatric as a significant leap forward in providing advanced rehabilitation for children with gait disabilities.
"This device is a step towards integrating technology into Kerala's healthcare system, ensuring enhanced quality of life for children and their families," she said.
She also emphasized Kerala's transition from community-driven healthcare interventions to integrating advanced technology.
"After achieving remarkable milestones in public health, ventures like G-Gaiter signify the second phase of healthcare development in Kerala," she added.
As part of the initiative, the G-Gaiter Paediatric will soon be installed at Sree Avittam Thirunal (SAT) Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, one of ten Centres of Excellence for Mother and Childcare recognized by the Central Government.
