Gaurav Porwal Joins 2070 Health as COO

Mumbai-based 2070 Health, a healthcare-focused venture studio has appointed Gaurav Porwal as its new chief operating officer (COO) and operating partner.

Founded in 2023, by Pankaj Jethwani, the W Health Ventures-backed healthcare startup boasts a 50-member team with expertise in technology and other crucial sectors.

Upon joining 2070 Health, Porwal said, "I'm delighted to be part of a team that shares my passion for revolutionizing healthcare. I look forward to collaborating with our founders and team to drive meaningful change and impact. I hope my experience and expertise in incubating and scaling companies across diverse domains will help the 2070 Health team solve some of healthcare’s most pressing challenges."

According to the healthcare organization, this strategic move will bolster the studio’s efforts to build and scale healthcare startups from the ground up.

Insight into Porwal’s Career 

Porwal, an alumnus of IIT-Bombay and ISB, has spent two decades in the Indian startup ecosystem. 

Previously, he exited Sparsh NephroCare, a healthcare venture acquired by Fresenius Medical Care in 2016. 

His extensive experience includes leadership roles at Ola Cabs, where he served as COO of Global Mobility, and at Tata Digital, where he was senior VP of Service Commerce. 

At Tata Digital, Porwal played a pivotal role in developing healthcare, food delivery, and mobility businesses for Tata Group's super-app, Tata Neu.

2070 Health’s Future Plans 

2070 Health has set ambitious goals for the near future. The venture studio plans to launch eight to ten startups over the next three to four years and expand its operations beyond India. 

The studio also aims to leverage its comprehensive operational expertise to foster innovation and growth in the healthcare sector.

Commenting on the fresh appointment, Pankaj Jethwani, CEO of 2070 Health, said, "We are thrilled to welcome Gaurav to our team. The studio's backing by W Health Ventures provides a solid foundation for its ambitious plans, ensuring access to necessary resources and support for its startups.

Other Major Appointments

India Medtronic, a subsidiary of the global healthcare giant Medtronic, recently appointed Mandeep Singh Kumar as its new VP & MD of its India operations.

Kumar succeeds Michael Blackwell, who has returned to the United States to pursue fresh endeavors.

Per the company, Kumar has experience spanning over 25 years in driving successful growth and business transformations across healthcare, pharmaceutical, and med-tech sectors.

In his new role, Kumar will oversee sales, marketing, and commercial operations for Medtronic in India.

In other developments, Mumbai's L H Hiranandani Hospital appointed Dr Sameer Kulkarni as its new CEO, marking the hospital's 20th anniversary.

Dr Kulkarni succeeds Dr Sujit Chatterjee, who announced his next plans to return to project management and take over as CEO of Sea View Healthcare Management Services. Prior to this role, Dr Kulkarni served as deputy CEO for three months.
