Fujifilm India introduced the mikoto Colon Model, an advanced endoscopy training simulator, at the Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES) Prof Dr B Krishna Rau Simulation Training Program in Chennai.
The device integrates technology into medical education, equipping healthcare professionals with realistic training tools to refine their skills in endoscopic procedures.
The mikoto Colon Model is a compact and portable simulator equipped with advanced sensor technology and artificial intelligence. It evaluates procedures, scores performance, and offers four levels of difficulty, enabling surgeons to practice self-guided learning based on their expertise.
By simulating real-world scenarios, the model supports skill enhancement, leading to improved diagnostic and therapeutic precision in clinical practice.
Prof Masashi Fujii, CEO of R Zero Inc., Japan, remarked, “The mikoto Colon Model represents a significant step forward in medical training. By combining cutting-edge technology with education, it provides healthcare professionals with a controlled and realistic environment to hone their skills, ensuring improved patient outcomes.”
The unveiling aligns with Fujifilm’s focus on leveraging technology for improved medical education and patient care outcomes. The initiative also highlights the growing emphasis on simulation-based training in medical fields.
Dr Subhash Agarwal, President of IAGES, said, “IAGES Endoscopy Board has been active since 2016, driven by leaders like Prof B. Krishna Rau, Dr Easwaramoorthy, Dr Satish Midha, and Dr K. Govindaraj. Thanks to the efforts of IAGES Chennai 2024, under the leadership of Dr Zameer Pasha and others, we are launching simulation-based training program to advance surgeon education.”
The training initiative aims to equip professionals with the skills required to address the complexities of gastrointestinal conditions more effectively.
Jumpei Toyoda, General Manager, Fujifilm Healthcare Asia Pacific, Endoscopy, shared “By introducing the mikoto Colon Model in India, Fujifilm reaffirms its commitment to delivering innovative healthcare solutions. This technology empowers endoscopy professionals to enhance their skills, driving improved diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities.”
