Fortis Cancer Institute, located within the premises of Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurugram, has recently introduced an advanced Digital PET CT machine, marking a notable stride in cancer diagnostics and precision oncology in India.
The innovative technology, Digital Biograph Vision 450, is a state-of-the-art Digital PET CT scanner equipped with flow motion technology and multi-parametric imaging. This device sets a new benchmark in cancer treatment technology.
It was inaugurated by esteemed oncologists, medical professionals from Fortis Gurugram, and senior management representatives. Fortis Gurugram is the first medical facility in India to acquire this technology.
Sharing thoughts on the same, Anil Vinayak, Group COO of Fortis Healthcare, stressed the crucial role of early cancer detection in curbing cancer-related mortality rates. He highlighted the comprehensive approach required in cancer care, underlining that the newly introduced technology is poised to facilitate both early and advanced diagnosis, contributing significantly to the overall well-being of cancer patients and survivors.
Dr. Ishita Sen, senior director and head of Nuclear Medicine at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, talked about the capabilities of the PET CT machine. She said, this sophisticated whole-body Digital PET CT scanner boasts the unique ability to conduct whole-body PET CT scans at double the speed of conventional scanners. It achieves this feat while enhancing accuracy by over 70% and remarkably reducing radiation exposure to patients by more than four times. Dr. Sen attributed these advancements to the machine's exceptional temporal resolution.
The machine's exceptional temporal resolution expedites dynamic PET imaging and empowers multi-parametric imaging. This transformative capability could redefine the landscape of PET CT scans from both procedural and interpretive perspectives.
Launching the advanced Digital PET CT machine at Fortis Cancer Institute advances cancer diagnostics, allowing for enhanced precision, expedited procedures, and reduced radiation exposure. This technological stride is anticipated to contribute substantially to advancing cancer care in India.
In February 2023, Fortis Healthcare introduced a dedicated helpline to extend psychological assistance to cancer patients and their caregivers. Established by a prominent private hospital, this nationwide helpline underscores a proactive approach to addressing the emotional well-being of individuals grappling with cancer-related challenges and their families.
