This new technology is expected to significantly improve precision, reduce recovery times, and enhance patient care.

Fortis Escorts in New Delhi has introduced a state-of-the-art surgical robot aimed at transforming the landscape of complex surgeries.

The robot, designed to assist in Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Urology, and GI surgeries, was unveiled by Smriti Irani, former Union Minister and renowned actress.

This new technology is expected to significantly improve precision, reduce recovery times, and enhance patient care.

The surgical robot, featuring advanced 360-degree movement, 3D vision, and unparalleled flexibility, is built to support minimally invasive surgeries. Surgeons will be able to perform complex procedures with improved accuracy, reducing the risk of complications and shortening recovery periods for patients.

"I commend Fortis Healthcare for their unwavering commitment to excellence. Adopting advanced technologies like the Surgical Robot marks a significant leap in improving patient care, enabling minimally invasive procedures, and reinforcing India’s leadership in healthcare innovation," Smriti Irani stated during the launch.

The technology is particularly beneficial in fields such as cardiac surgery, urology, and gastrointestinal procedures. Dr Ritwick Raj Bhuyan, Director of Adult Cardiac Surgery at Fortis Escorts, said, "The open console design enhances surgical visibility and eliminates the need for large bone cuts in cardiac procedures. With this technology, bypass surgeries become minimally invasive, ensuring full blood flow restoration, minimal scarring, and recovery times as short as three days."

Fortis also shared success stories, including a 70-year-old patient from Assam who underwent a robotic-assisted bypass surgery. Dr Bhuyan explained, "We successfully opened all three blocked arteries, delivering a smooth recovery with minimal pain and blood loss."

Similarly, Dr Sanjay Verma, Director of Minimal Access, GI & Bariatric Surgery, emphasized the system's precision, saying, "The precision of the system allowed us to discharge the patient just two days after surgery, enabling a quick return to normal life."

In urology, Dr Paresh Jain, Director of Urology & Kidney Transplant, highlighted the advantages of the robot in kidney tumor removal said, "Using the robot for minimally invasive kidney tumor removal not only minimized blood loss but preserved healthy tissue, setting a new standard for such procedures."

This development aligns with Fortis Healthcare's ongoing efforts to integrate cutting-edge technology into patient care, ensuring that healthcare in India remains at the forefront of medical advancements.
