As part of the partnership, The ePlane Company will provide 788 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air ambulances to ICATT in a deal valued at over $1 billion.
The ePlane Company and the International Critical Care Air Transfer Team (ICATT) have signed an agreement to enhance emergency medical transport in India.
As part of the partnership, The ePlane Company will provide 788 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air ambulances to ICATT in a deal valued at over $1 billion.
The agreement marks one of the largest initial orders in the developing eVTOL industry.
This collaboration follows The ePlane Company’s recent partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to develop urban air mobility solutions.
The air ambulances will be based on The ePlane Company’s e200x model, a compact eVTOL aircraft designed for medical transport.
With an 8-meter wingspan, the aircraft can take off from rooftops or small roadside areas, offering faster transport compared to ground vehicles.
ICATT aims to expand India’s air ambulance network to improve access to emergency care.
Dr Shalini Nalwad, founder of ICATT, said the initiative will help address geographical barriers that delay critical medical interventions.
She also noted that logistical challenges, rather than a shortage of organ donors, often impact organ transplant cases.
“This collaboration will help address such issues and improve access to timely healthcare,” she said.
Prof Satya Chakravarthy, founder of The ePlane Company, said the partnership will support the expansion of aerial medical services in India.
“This initiative aims to improve emergency response by ensuring faster access to critical care and reducing delays in patient transport,” he said.
With this partnership, ICATT and The ePlane Company seek to integrate eVTOL technology into India’s healthcare system, offering an alternative for time-sensitive medical transport.
