Dr Mandar Vaidya Joins Cloudphysician to Spearhead India Unit as CEO

Dr Vaidya, who previously served as the regional CEO of OYO and a partner at McKinsey & Co, brings extensive experience to his new role. 

Cloudphysician, a leading AI-health startup, has appointed Dr Mandar Vaidya as the CEO of its India unit. He joined the position in June 2024 only. 

Dr Vaidya, who previously served as the regional CEO of OYO and a partner at McKinsey & Co, brings extensive experience to his new role. He is also an independent director on the board of pharma giant Cipla.

Sharing excitement about the new role, Dr Vaidya said, "This is a career-defining opportunity for me to build further and lead a transformative team. By leveraging advanced technology for more precise diagnosis and treatment, we aim to impact healthcare delivery in India significantly."

In a joint statement, cofounders of Cloudphysician, Dr Dhruv Joshi and Dr Dileep Raman, said, "The healthcare landscape in India is evolving, and there is a significant opportunity for tech-enabled solutions to establish sustainable care delivery models. Mandar's industry expertise will help drive our mission forward, enabling us to reach more patients and hospitals."

Founded in 2017, Cloudphysician, backed by Peak XV Partners, specializes in full-stack technology and operations. It partners with hospitals to manage patients in their ICUs and emergency departments with AI-enabled clinical support. 

Further, it aims to transform critical care by partnering with hospitals to digitize operations and provide AI-supported healthcare professionals.

In recent developments, Cloudphysician raised $10.5 million (INR 87.3 Cr) in its Series A funding round, led by Peak XV Partners with participation from Elevar Equity and venture debt firm Panthera Peak. 

The startup planned to utilize the raised funds to enhance Cloudphysician's AI platform, RADAR, support growth in India, and expand into new markets, including the United States. 

Major Appointments in Healthcare

In related news, Mumbai-based AGD Biomedicals appointed Rajesh M Patel as its new CEO. The company, known for developing and manufacturing medical devices and diagnostics, serves a global market with over 20,000 active installations of its AGD and ERMA JAPAN product lines.

In another such development, Paras Health appointed U P Singh, a seasoned IAS veteran, as an independent director on its board. Singh brings 37 years of governance, policy formulation, and strategic management expertise.

Further, we reported about Gland Pharma announcing Srinivas Sadu as its executive chairman and CEO, effective June 10, 2024. Sadu, with over two decades of extensive experience, has played a crucial role in Gland's growth.

Additionally, Orchid Pharma, too named Rajnish Rohatgi as its new CEO. According to the company, Rohatgi is expected to establish a new division focused on promoting the rational use of anti-infectives.
