Drawing inspiration from the success of the “Chiranjeevi Yojana” in Rajasthan, Gehlot expressed confidence that the proposed scheme would deliver similar benefits in Delhi.
The Congress party has announced a new health insurance scheme, “Jeevan Raksha Yojana,” offering free health coverage of up to INR 25 lakh for all Delhi residents. The scheme is part of the party’s key promises ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.
Senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot described the scheme as a “game-changer” that addresses the pressing healthcare needs of Delhi’s population.
Drawing inspiration from the success of the “Chiranjeevi Yojana” in Rajasthan, Gehlot expressed confidence that the proposed scheme would deliver similar benefits in Delhi.
“This is a universal scheme for all people of Delhi,” Gehlot stated, emphasizing its comprehensive coverage, which includes medical expenses for critical illnesses, hospitalizations, and treatments.
Highlighting the party’s campaign slogan, “Hogi Har Zarurat Puri, Congress Hai Zaroori,” he reiterated Congress’ commitment to meeting the needs of every citizen.
Gehlot also recalled the governance of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, under whom the city witnessed modernization and development. He stated that Congress aims to restore that era of effective governance in the national capital.
Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav supported Gehlot’s announcement, emphasizing the proven success of Rajasthan’s “Chiranjeevi Yojana” as a model for the proposed Jeevan Raksha Yojana.
He argued that such a program is crucial for improving healthcare access and outcomes for Delhi’s residents.
In addition to the Jeevan Raksha Yojana, the Congress has introduced the “Pyaari Didi Yojana,” which promises monthly financial assistance of INR 2,500 for women.
Polling for Delhi’s 70-member assembly is scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set for February 8. Congress is positioning these welfare schemes as key components of its campaign to regain power in the capital.
