The deal aligns with Commure’s mission to provide comprehensive AI-powered solutions for patient engagement, clinical documentation, and revenue cycle management. Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
AI-driven healthcare software company Commure has acquired the digital care navigation platform Memora Health, a startup originating from the Harvard Innovation Labs.
The deal aligns with Commure’s mission to provide comprehensive AI-powered solutions for patient engagement, clinical documentation, and revenue cycle management. Financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed.
Founded in 2017, Memora Health specializes in a two-way communication platform designed to guide patients through their care journeys and connect them with the appropriate care teams.
The company, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, and Transformation Capital, has raised $79.8 million since its inception, including its latest funding round in April 2023.
Memora Health has partnered with over 50 healthcare organizations, including the Mayo Clinic, Penn Medicine, and Edward Elmhurst Health.
These partnerships utilize Memora’s subscription-based software for care management in areas such as oncology and maternity care.
"The acquisition of Memora Health is a significant step forward in our mission to simplify provider, patient, and administrator workflows. By combining Memora's intelligent care navigation with Commure's existing solutions, we can deliver a seamless experience for providers and care teams and enhance patient support throughout their healthcare journey," said Tanay Tandon, CEO of Commure.
Commure's latest acquisition builds on its July 2024 purchase of AI scribe company Augmedix. Commure also recently partnered with Tenet Healthcare and HCA Healthcare for its ambient scribe technology.
Memora’s adaptive platform, developed as a text-based virtual assistant, addresses challenges in implementing digital tools across healthcare organizations.
"Amidst all of those (digital health tools), there’s really no good infrastructure in most healthcare organizations to actually implement them or to navigate the entirety of the journey for that patient," said Manav Sevak, CEO and co-founder of Memora, in a 2022 interview.
Commure estimates that its suite of AI solutions, including ambient scribing and revenue cycle automation, will power over 3 million physician appointments this year.
As part of Commure, Memora aims to scale its capabilities to support millions of patients.
"We are thrilled to join forces with Commure to accelerate our mission of simplifying patient journeys. Our technology and unique approach to care navigation have been validated by leading health systems, health plans, and digital health companies," said Kunaal Naik, CTO and co-founder of Memora Health.
By integrating Memora Health’s care navigation technology, Commure seeks to enhance its healthcare-focused AI solutions and expand its impact on patient care management.
