The facility will begin operations in its new building in January 2025, providing advanced cardiac care locally.
In a significant move to enhance mental health services, CM Siddaramaiah inaugurated the new 371-bed Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Hospital in Kalaburagi on Sunday.
The facility will begin operations in its new building in January 2025, providing advanced cardiac care locally.
"Residents of Kalyana Karnataka can now access cardiac treatment without traveling to Bengaluru. I encourage the Kalaburagi branch to exceed the exceptional standards set by the Bengaluru and Mysuru facilities," said Siddaramaiah.
The new hospital aims to address the region's healthcare challenges, catering to the needs of residents who previously faced difficulties in accessing specialized cardiac care.
The chief minister also announced plans to establish a National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) unit and a diabetology unit in Kalaburagi. He emphasized the importance of expanding mental health services statewide and directed Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil to expedite the process.
“A NIMHANS unit is essential not just in Kalaburagi but also in Mysuru, and we are committed to ensuring timely action,” he added.
Siddaramaiah highlighted the broader developmental initiatives undertaken under Article 371J, stating, "The implementation of Article 371J has generated significant employment opportunities for educated individuals in the Kalyana Karnataka region."
He assured that the government is actively addressing vacant positions in the region and plans to introduce new university courses to enhance educational opportunities.
By prioritizing specialized healthcare infrastructure, the government aims to bridge gaps in cardiac and mental healthcare services, enhancing access and improving overall well-being in the region.
