Osteopathy is a holistic and drug-free therapy that utilizes manual techniques to address musculoskeletal issues and improve overall health.
CK Birla Hospitals has unveiled a new Osteopathy Clinic at the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) in Kolkata. This clinic will offer advanced non-invasive osteopathic treatments aimed at improving overall health and well-being.
Established in 1969, the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is a 440-bedded NABH-accredited multi-specialty hospital in Kolkata.
The newly established Osteopathy Clinic at CMRI is designed to provide comprehensive care through osteopathic medicine, which focuses on enhancing the body's innate healing abilities.
Osteopathy is a holistic and drug-free therapy that utilizes manual techniques to address musculoskeletal issues and improve overall health.
By emphasizing the body's structural and functional relationships, osteopathic treatments aim to support the nervous, circulatory, and lymphatic systems. Techniques such as gentle pressure, stretching, and resistance are used to treat both chronic and acute conditions and to prevent future disorders.
Juan Guillon, an international osteopath and consultant at CMRI, emphasized the clinic’s role in CK Birla Hospitals' commitment to integrative healthcare.
"The launch of the Osteopathy Clinic reflects our dedication to advancing holistic care. Osteopathic treatments can enhance nervous system function, balance the musculoskeletal system, promote optimal circulation, and improve overall coordination. These treatments are designed to complement conventional therapies and improve patient outcomes," Guillon said.
The clinic is part of CMRI's broader strategy to offer an integrative approach to health care. The facility encourages collaboration among various medical specialties to provide a comprehensive treatment plan for patients.
This approach aims to address biomechanical, postural, and musculoskeletal issues while also considering other factors that may contribute to chronic pain and functional limitations.
The integration of osteopathy with conventional medical practices is supported by a growing body of research highlighting its effectiveness in managing musculoskeletal conditions and enhancing overall well-being.
In addition to the Kolkata location, the Osteopathy Clinic is also available at Rukmani Birla Hospital in Jaipur.
Sombrata Roy, unit head of CMRI, expressed enthusiasm about the new clinic. "The introduction of the Osteopathy Clinic enhances our ability to provide integrated and exceptional healthcare. Our facility is known for its dynamic integration of various specialties, ensuring a comprehensive approach to patient treatment," Roy noted.
