Chennai-based RG Hospitals has launched RG NexGen Prostate Treatment - Nano Slim MiPS (Minimally Invasive Prostate Surgery) in prostate treatment.

This procedure utilizes the advanced 100W and 152W Holmium Lasers. RG Hospitals is the first in South India to introduce the powerful 152W Holmium laser, significantly advancing in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and other prostate-related conditions.

Established in 1995 in Chennai, RG Hospitals has a history of pioneering urological care, starting with introducing Lithotripsy for kidney stones. This latest addition further cements their reputation as a leader in minimally invasive urological surgeries.

About the Latest RG NexGen Prostate Treatment

The 152W Holmium laser offers several benefits over traditional surgical methods. Its precision reduces damage to surrounding tissues, resulting in less bleeding, reduced pain, and faster recovery times.

Furthermore, the efficiency of the laser also shortens the duration of surgeries, allowing for quicker patient turnaround and easing the burden on healthcare facilities.

Commenting on the same, Dr Arun Kumar, senior urology consultant at RG Hospitals, Chennai, said, "The goal is to be catalysts of positive change in the medical landscape, providing unmatched care and contributing to healthier, happier communities. Introducing the Nano Slim MiPS powered by the 152W Holmium laser is a significant step towards achieving this goal. It allows us to provide our patients with the most advanced and effective treatments available."

The Nano Slim MiPS treats BPH and other urological conditions, including bladder tumors, urethral strictures, and kidney stones. This versatility enhances the hospital's ability to provide comprehensive and personalized care.

"The 152W Holmium laser's high precision minimizes damage to surrounding tissues, leading to less bleeding, reduced pain, and faster recovery times," added Dr Kumar.

Furthermore, the advanced 152W Holmium laser allows for more precise, efficient, and minimally invasive surgeries. This leads to shorter recovery times and improved overall patient satisfaction.

By incorporating the latest technologies and techniques, RG Hospitals aims to improve the quality of life for their patients and set new standards for urological care.

Previously, Apollo Hospital presented an extensive study on prostate cancer screening involving nearly 1 Lakh Indian men without prior disposition to the disease.

This significant step towards advancing prostate cancer care in India, titled "Determining age‑specific prostate‑specific antigen for healthy Indian men," was led by N Ragavan and Sanjai Addla from Apollo.

Published in the Indian Journal of Urology, the study establishes new reference values for prostate-specific antigen (PSA), an established blood marker for early diagnosis and treatment monitoring of prostate cancer, tailored to the Indian demographic.
