Each ambulance will have essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), stretchers, a monitor, suction machines, and emergency medicines.
Blinkit, the instant delivery platform, has launched a 10-minute ambulance service in Gurgaon to address urgent healthcare needs. Initially rolling out with five ambulances, the service aims to provide quick and efficient emergency medical services within the city.
CEO Albinder Dhinsa announced the launch on Thursday, highlighting the platform's commitment to improving healthcare accessibility in urban areas.
“We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today,” Dhinsa said in a post on social media platform X.
The new service is designed to respond swiftly to emergency calls. The company plans to expand to more areas in Gurgaon and beyond gradually. Blinkit intends to scale the service across major cities within two years.
Each ambulance will have essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), stretchers, a monitor, suction machines, and emergency medicines. In addition, each vehicle will be staffed with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure efficient care during transport.
“This service is designed to provide quick access to basic life support (BLS) ambulances in critical moments. Our ambulances are equipped with all the necessary life-saving equipment, such as oxygen cylinders and AEDs, to ensure that patients receive the best possible care during transit,” Dhinsa further explained.
Residents can book the 10-minute ambulance service through the Blinkit app, which offers a quick and accessible option for booking emergency healthcare transportation.
“Profit is not a goal here. We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term,” Dhinsa stated.
Blinkit aims to continue expanding the ambulance service, initially focusing on major cities. In the coming years, it plans to expand its fleet of ambulances and the geographic reach of the service.
In addition, the company noted that neonatal or ventilator care will not be supported by this service at this stage, as it focuses on providing basic life support for critical cases.
