Philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has recently met Union Health Minister J P Nadda to review the ongoing collaboration between the Government of India and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the healthcare sector.
The discussions focused on improving healthcare delivery and expanding cooperation in areas such as maternal health, immunization, and sanitation.
In a post on X, Nadda acknowledged the Gates Foundation's role in driving significant improvements in India's healthcare infrastructure.
He highlighted how the partnership has contributed to advancements in maternal health, immunization coverage, and sanitation.
"Met with Mr. Bill Gates, founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, during his visit to India today. We discussed the remarkable progress India has achieved in healthcare through our collaboration with the Foundation," Nadda wrote.
The Health Minister further added that both parties are looking forward to renewing their memorandum of cooperation to strengthen India's health systems further and make healthcare more affordable and accessible.
Gates also held a meeting with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and predictive analytics to improve service delivery in healthcare, education, agriculture, and employment.
Naidu emphasized that the collaboration with the Gates Foundation aligns with the state's long-term development goal of 'Swarna Andhra Pradesh 2047.'
"We believe this partnership with the Gates Foundation will play a crucial role in empowering our people and achieving this goal," Naidu said.
Gates also visited Parliament on Wednesday, where the Budget Session is currently underway.
Earlier, on Monday, he met Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to discuss strategies for enhancing food security, rural development, and the application of AI and machine learning in agriculture.
The Gates Foundation has been actively supporting India's developmental goals, with a focus on healthcare, agriculture, and technology-driven solutions.
