Currently, over 1.3 Lakh healthcare facilities, including more than 17,000 private institutions, are ABDM-enabled.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revealed that over 67 Cr Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) have been created, coinciding with the third anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
These Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts enable citizens to access and share health records securely through unique digital IDs.
According to the Ministry, the Ayushman Bharat Health Account initiative has linked over 42 Cr health records to the system, streamlining access to patient medical histories and enhancing healthcare delivery.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, launched on September 27, aims to establish a comprehensive digital health infrastructure in India.
The Ministry highlighted that since its launch, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has integrated more than 236 private entities, including laboratories, pharmacies, and digital health providers, to ensure the system’s interoperability.
Public institutions such as AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Bhopal have also played a major role in generating OPD registrations via the Scan and Share feature.
Currently, over 1.3 Lakh healthcare facilities, including more than 17,000 private institutions, are ABDM-enabled.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission operates using registries such as the Ayushman Bharat Health Account, Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), and Health Facility Registries (HFR), offering patients the ability to easily share demographic information during hospital registrations.
The Ministry also noted that more than 5 Cr OPD tokens have been generated through the Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts, significantly reducing patient waiting times and saving approximately 2.5 Cr man-hours.
Incentives up to INR 4 Cr are available to encourage further adoption of digital health practices within both private and public healthcare institutions.
This digital health infrastructure, driven by Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts, continues to enhance efficiency and transparency in India's healthcare ecosystem, making it easier for citizens to access essential medical services.
