The advanced MRI machine is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities and streamline healthcare delivery at one of Assam’s leading medical institutions.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine at the CN Centre of Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) on Tuesday evening.
The advanced MRI machine is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities and streamline healthcare delivery at one of Assam’s leading medical institutions.
The Assam government allocated INR 30 crore for the installation of the latest technology MRI machine. "We have dedicated new facilities for patients, including an MRI machine, at GMCH. Our government is working towards modernizing public health infrastructure," CM Sarma said in a post on X.
The addition of this machine increases the number of MRI units at GMCH to four, enhancing its ability to cater to the growing demand for advanced diagnostic services. "After setting up the new MRI machine, people will receive better diagnostic services," the Chief Minister added.
The introduction of this new MRI machine is part of the state government’s broader effort to modernize healthcare infrastructure. GMCH serves as a critical healthcare provider in the region, and the advanced MRI machine will enable more accurate and timely diagnosis for patients, reducing waiting times and improving outcomes.
This move aligns with the state’s commitment to upgrading public health facilities to provide affordable, high-quality medical services. The focus remains on equipping healthcare institutions with the tools necessary to address the increasing demands of modern medicine.
The state government’s initiative is expected to set a benchmark for healthcare infrastructure development in Assam, ensuring that diagnostic facilities keep pace with patient needs.
