Taking this step consolidates AHH's position as India's largest single-specialty healthcare delivery platform and across the broader Asian subcontinent.

Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), a healthcare delivery platform, has acquired an undisclosed, majority stake in the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), a hospital network focusing on urology and nephrology care. The acquisition involves a substantial investment of INR 600 Cr in AINU through primary and secondary investments.

Taking this step consolidates AHH's position as India's largest single-specialty healthcare delivery platform and across the broader Asian subcontinent, said the hospital.

Commenting on the acquisition, Vishal Bali, executive chairman of Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), said, "AINU introduces a new specialty to the AHH platform, aligning with our vision of expanding the single-specialty healthcare delivery ecosystem. With India facing a high incidence of urological disorders and chronic kidney diseases due to prevalent diabetes and hypertension, specialized urology and nephrology care is crucial. AINU's expertise will help bridge the demand-supply gap in these essential healthcare areas."

Launched in 2017 in Bengaluru, AHH has contributed significantly by scaling enterprises in oncology (CTSI), women and children's (motherhood hospitals), and IVF & fertility (Nova IVF), with all of them achieving leadership positions in their respective fields.

Commenting on the same, Dr. C Mallikarjun, chief consultant urologist and MD of AINU, noted, "Indians face a high incidence of kidney stones and non-cancerous prostate enlargement issues. Our team has successfully performed over 1,000 robotic surgeries for urological cancers, making robotic urology surgery accessible in urban India and tier 2 cities. We anticipate a rising incidence of uro-oncology, uro-gynecology, and pediatric urology cases in the coming years, and we believe that AHH is the right partner for our enterprise's next growth phase."

As per the company profile, AINU, founded in 2013 in Hyderabad by a team of eminent urologists and nephrologists led by Dr. C Mallikarjuna and Dr. P C Reddy, specialises in urology and nephrology clinical specialties in India. The company operates seven hospitals across Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Siliguri, and Chennai.

Their services include diagnosing and treating stone disease, urology cancers, prostate diseases, reconstructive urology surgery, laparoscopic urology, and andrology.

Based on traces back to 2022, there were approximately 1.89 Cr nephrology and urology procedures performed in India, and this specialty is projected to grow by 8-9% CAGR during the next five years.India currently boasts a pool of 6,000 qualified urologists and 3,500 nephrologists, with around 350 urologists and 250 nephrologists graduating each year, emphasising the increasing demand for specialised care in these fields.

Parallel to ongoing mergers and acquisitions, Manipal Hospitals acquired AMRI Hospitals, extending its healthcare services across Eastern India. This acquisition aligns with Manipal Hospitals' existing geographic footprint and signifies a significant expansion of their healthcare facilities.
