Ashoka University and Koita Foundation have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Koita Centre for Digital Health '“ Ashoka University (KCDH-A). This centre aims to bridge the gap between advanced research and skilled professionals in digital health, a crucial driver for enhancing healthcare accessibility, affordability, and quality in India.
KCDH-A will provide academic offerings in digital health and health informatics, spanning undergraduate, Ph.D., and executive education programs. The centre will collaborate with prominent national and international healthcare institutions and research organisations.
Its ambition lies in leading research and innovation in digital health to reshape care delivery, improve health equity, bolster care accessibility, and harness AI and advanced technologies in medical imaging, diagnostics, and healthcare informatics.
Rizwan Koita, founder & director of the Koita Foundation, commended Ashoka University's expertise in Biosciences, Data Science, and Social Sciences as ideal for pioneering digital health education and research in India.
Since its inception in 2017, Koita Foundation has spearheaded numerous national initiatives to expedite digital health adoption in India. KCDH-A is the latest collaboration in a series to propel academic programs, research, collaboration, and professional development in digital health.
Somak Raychaudhury, vice chancellor of Ashoka University, noted that the new partnership aligns with Ashoka's vision of becoming a global hub for advanced research and impactful education.
Ashoka University has actively engaged in digital health projects through its centres, such as the Centre of Health Analytics Research and Trends (CHART) and Centre for Research on Wellness and Nutrition (CROWN). The Koita Centre for Digital Health will be the cohesive platform for all these initiatives.
