The Arab Health Congress has officially joined forces with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) to present the Public Health Conference. The cornerstone health conference explores the future of healthcare by providing a platform to cutting-edge technologies, the latest advances, and thought leadership in public and population health. The conference is set to take place from January 29 to 30 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Under the theme of 'Uniting for enhanced local and global public health,' healthcare leaders and experts from around the world will provide insight into the latest findings and recommendations in the realm of public and population health, the press statement said.
The conference will kick off with an opening keynote speech by Dr Ramadan Alblooshi, director at DHA's Public Health & Protection Department and conference chair. He will delve into the new era of public health, emphasising the swift global shifts in public health dynamics and the evolving requirements for community health security.
Reacting to the partnership between the Arab Health Congress and DHA, Dr Alblooshi said, “Arab Health continues to thrive, underscoring Dubai's excellence in hosting and organising significant scientific and medical gatherings. This annual event attracts participation from distinguished senior scientists, leading doctors, and global health entities at the forefront of international medical advancements.”
He further highlighted DHA’s commitment to nurturing partnerships with health institutions and said that the authority recognises the swift global shifts in public health dynamics and the evolving requirements for community health security.
Some of the distinguished speakers at the conference include Dr Nada Al Marzooqi, director of Public Health and Prevention, UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, and HE. Dr Farida Al Hosani, executive director of Communicable Diseases, ADPHC Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre.
The speakers at the Arab Health Congress will deep dive in a wide range of topics from healthier lifestyle and behavioural changes to occupational and environmental health, innovations and sustainability in public health, communicable and non-communicable diseases. Special focus will also be on public health crisis and disaster management.
Ronald Lavater, CEO of the International Hospital Federation is scheduled to speak on innovations and sustainability in the hospital sector, whereas Prof Duncan Selbie, President of the International Association of Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) will explore the changing landscape for public health institutes and the role of a multi-sectoral approach.
Cynthia Makarutse, conference director for Informa Markets, commenting on the collaboration said, “The presence of organisations such as WHO, MoHaP, the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control, and the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre underscores the paramount importance placed on advancing this crucial facet of the healthcare sector.”
The Public Health Conference curated by Dubai Health Authority is part of the ten Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences during the 2024 edition of Arab Health. The Congress expects to host over 3,600 delegates across more than 165 sessions, hearing from 330 experts in various healthcare-related fields.
Besides public health, the conference will cover areas such as radiology, surgery, emergency medicine and critical care, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics, quality management, infection control, decontamination and sterilisation (CSSD), and diabetes.
Supported by government entities, Arab Health 2024 promises to usher in a new era of healthcare excellence and innovation, positioning Dubai as a global hub for healthcare advancements, the statement said.
