To enhance the accuracy of its AI health tool, Apple has reportedly brought in a team of physicians along with external experts in sleep science, nutrition, cardiology, physical therapy, and mental health.
Tech giant Apple is reportedly working on an AI-powered health coach designed to provide personalized health guidance, marking its latest push into digital health.
According to Bloomberg’s report, Apple is developing a virtual doctor-like feature integrated into the Health app on iPhone. The AI tool will analyze users' health data and offer tailored insights. The company is also recruiting medical professionals to train the AI model, ensuring accuracy and credibility.
In recent years, Apple has expanded the health capabilities of its devices, including ECG monitoring, SpO2 tracking, and fall detection on the Apple Watch. However, Gurman suggests that Apple is now shifting from passive data collection to active health recommendations powered by AI.
The initiative is part of a broader update to the Health app, codenamed Project Mulberry, expected to launch with iOS 19. The AI health coach will analyze data from iPhones, Apple Watches, and other health accessories, using machine learning to provide insights on heart rate patterns, sleep cycles, and activity levels.

Internally, some Apple employees have referred to the AI health coach as "Health+", though it remains unclear whether it will be a free feature or part of a subscription service.
One of the most anticipated new additions is food tracking, an area where Apple currently lacks dedicated tools. The updated Health app is expected to allow users to log their meals, with the AI assistant providing nutritional insights and dietary recommendations.
With this move, Apple is deepening its presence in digital health, leveraging AI to offer more proactive health management tools for users.
