Apollo Multispeciality Hospital has acquired a partially constructed hospital with equipment, thereby, establishing its second hospital in Kolkata in a cash deal worth INR 102 Cr.
Reportedly, the newly acquired property will be able to accommodate 325 beds. The initial phase of the hospital, comprising 225 beds, is scheduled to be operational within the next 12 months.
This acquisition aligns with Apollo Hospitals' expansion strategy in key regions, including brownfield and greenfield projects. Moreover, this acquisition marks the company's fifth addition in the eastern region, increasing the group's total hospital bed capacity to over 1,800 across Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati.
Over the next three years, Apollo Hospitals intends to add another 700 beds to bolster its presence in the East, bringing the total bed count in the eastern region to 2,500.
The purchase of 1.4 acres of land was made from Future Oncology Hospital and Research Centre (Future) through an assets purchase process. Additionally, the acquisition was fully funded by Apollo Multispeciality Hospital through its own internal accruals.
