The proposed facility will be developed across 200 acres and is part of a national initiative led by the Union Government under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The Andhra Pradesh government has announced plans to establish a Mega Global Medicity in Amaravati to improve healthcare infrastructure and attract international medical tourism.
The proposed facility will be developed across 200 acres and is part of a national initiative led by the Union Government under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Additionally, the state government anticipates investment from Qatar to support the project.
Per Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the project is one of 25 Medicities being proposed across India in collaboration with State Governments.
He added, “The project is one among the 25 Medicities proposed to be developed across the country by the Union Government, in association with the State Governments, under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.”
The AP government has earmarked 200 acres within the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) limits for the project. The land will be divided into functional zones: 100 acres for healthcare services, 40 acres for residential and commercial use, and 20 acres for a service zone.
To facilitate the development, the State will establish a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), responsible for identifying a PPP partner. The SPV will oversee the project’s implementation in alignment with the State’s healthcare infrastructure objectives.
Naidu noted that the State anticipates funding support from Qatar. “During the visit of the Amir of Qatar in February this year, Qatar had pledged $10 billion investment in India,” he said, adding that the State expects investment from Qatar for this initiative. “The Centre has come forward to facilitate the development of the Mega Global Medicity in Amaravati under the PPP model.”
In a similar development, CM Naidu recently instructed officials to establish multi-specialty hospitals in all Assembly constituencies, preferably under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
He emphasized the need for an action plan to establish 100-—to 300-bed hospitals, pointing out that while 70 constituencies already have hospitals with over 100 beds, the remaining 105 constituencies require multi-specialty facilities.
Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh government launched a major public health initiative to generate Electronic Health Records (EHRs) for its population through doorstep diagnostic services under the restructured 104 Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) program. The initiative aims to provide critical data to assess current and future disease burdens across the State, paving the way for targeted health interventions.
