American Cancer Society & Color Health Expands their Cancer Care Solution Program For US Patients

Moreover, the program also offers at-home screening tests to eliminate traditional barriers to access.

The American Cancer Society (ACS) and Color Health have expanded their program to create a comprehensive cancer care solution, aimed at enhancing cancer care delivery for patients across the United States.

This comprehensive cancer solution is designed for employers and labor unions, providing support to their employees and member populations throughout all stages of the cancer journey.

With this expansion, the Color and ACS program introduces Color Medical clinical teams.

These teams manage abnormal screenings, confirm diagnoses, offer specialized care for high-risk individuals, provide holistic support for employees undergoing cancer treatment, and integrate clinical and mental health support for survivors.

On the partnership, Othman Laraki, CEO, Color, said, "Over the past year, we have heard from employers and funds across the US who are asking for a single program and model that focuses equally on early detection as it does on cancer treatment support. We know that moving the needle on detection is the only thing that will cause a state change in cancer outcomes and costs."

What the Collaboration Seeks?

The collaboration seeks to share early findings from a cohort pilot study regarding the impact of the program. Participants, aged between 45 and 65 and representing diverse backgrounds, were identified as being overdue for at least one cancer screening.

Furthermore, the collaboration introduces a novel initiative called the Virtual Cancer Clinic, a pioneering endeavor within its domain.

This clinic integrates various components, including an in-house clinical care team comprising practicing physicians, specialist oncologists, high-risk clinical coordinators, and genetic counselors.

The inclusion of such professionals ensures that every patient receives comprehensive care from a team of cancer experts

Additionally, the program incorporates integrated diagnostics and establishes a nationwide imaging network. This network facilitates swift and high-quality screening, as well as follow-up diagnostic care.

Notably, appointment availability through this network averages less than two weeks, a significant improvement over the national average.

Moreover, the program also offers at-home screening tests to eliminate traditional barriers to access.

The program features a proprietary peer support program known as Color Cancer Connect.

This evidence-based initiative provides mental health support services, while care advocates address logistical needs such as appointment scheduling and offer guidance on financial considerations related to cancer prevention, detection, and care.

‘’We're recognizing the need for a comprehensive clinic approach, which really takes on clinical care and support while also lowering access barriers and thinking holistically about cancer, which is not just a medical issue, but something that is far more complex," Color CEO Laraki noted.

Last year, ACS and Color Health partnered to provide convenient, accessible, and comprehensive cancer prevention and screening solutions for the highest-burden cancers.

This included breast, prostate, lung, cervical, and colorectal for more than 150 million Americans who receive health care through either their employer or union.

As part of the partnership, a portion of Color Health proceeds will help support the ACS mission while ACS does not directly provide medical or clinical care.

Founded in 1913 by 10 doctors and five laypeople in New York City, the American Cancer Society (ACS), originally known as the American Society for the Control of Cancer (ASCC), emerged during a time when a cancer diagnosis was often synonymous with near-certain death.

Currently, it is a leading cancer-fighting organization in the US with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.

Color, on the other hand, founded in 2015, is a complete platform for healthcare delivery, providing the technology, infrastructure, and logistics required to distribute large-scale health initiatives to diverse populations. Color works with employers, unions, government agencies, schools, and communities to provide equitable, accessible healthcare services.
