The collaboration enables One Medical members in Seattle to access a wide range of specialties through Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s extensive network of providers, outpatient facilities, and hospitals, enhancing the overall healthcare experience.

In a significant development, Amazon's One Medical has joined forces with CommonSpirit Health's Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to extend specialised healthcare services to primary care patients in the greater Seattle area.

The collaboration enables One Medical members in Seattle to access a wide range of specialties through Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s extensive network of providers, outpatient facilities, and hospitals, enhancing the overall healthcare experience.

One Medical, now under Amazon's umbrella following a $3.9 billion deal in February, operates eight primary care clinics in Seattle. Virginia Mason will serve as a referral partner for specialised care, seamlessly integrating primary and specialty settings.

Commenting on the same, Trent Green, CEO at One Medical, said, "Teaming up with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health further advances One Medical’s mission of transforming health care to improve the patient care experience in the Seattle area."

The collaboration underscores One Medical's commitment to providing hybrid care through its mobile app. It offers 24/7 virtual care services, including on-demand video visits, provider messaging, and digital assessments for common health concerns.

Amazon's acquisition of One Medical in February expanded its presence in primary care, giving it access to 220 clinics in 29 metropolitan areas and a substantial share of the employer market, serving over 8,500 companies.

Ketul J. Patel, CEO of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, highlighted the evolving preferences of healthcare consumers, stating, "Increasingly, healthcare consumers want patient-centered care delivered where they are, when they need it, with access via technology-driven solutions."

CommonSpirit Health's acquisition of Virginia Mason in January 2021 paved the way for this collaboration. The integrated health system, covering 10 hospitals and nearly 300 sites of care throughout the Puget Sound area, positions itself as a hub for innovative partnerships to enhance the medical experience for patients.

Notably, One Medical's membership, priced at $199 per year, has become more accessible to Amazon Prime members

With a discounted rate of $9 per month or $99 annually, along with additional family memberships at $6 per month, the collaboration aims to make quality healthcare more affordable and convenient.

As Amazon explores ways to leverage One Medical's expertise in patient care with its tech capabilities, including advanced predictive models and digital engagements, the collaboration holds promise for scaling up integrated primary care and improving healthcare outcomes for patients in the Seattle region.
