Ahmedabad-based healthtech startup C3 MedTech has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Industrial Metal Powders to launch new telemedicine and AI-enabled eye screening devices.

The startup aims to reduce avoidable blindness in India by developing affordable and portable ophthalmic screening equipment.

Reportedly, the latest infusion of funds will support marketing efforts, team building, and R&D for future products.

According to the startup, the latest portable devices offer quick eye check-ups and real-time detection of eye diseases.

Furthermore, by integrating telemedicine and AI, C3 MedTech’s devices aim to provide immediate and accurate diagnoses, ensuring timely intervention. This approach, per the startup, significantly improves the chances of preventing visual impairment and blindness.

Sharing insights, Yash Nagarsheth, director, C3 MedTech, stated, “We aim to make high-quality eye care accessible and affordable, especially in low-resource settings. The support from Industrial Metal Powders will accelerate our efforts to bring innovative ophthalmic solutions to more people.”

Innovative Ophthalmic Devices

C3 MedTech’s patented and US FDA-approved devices, including the C3 Vision-Portable Slit Lamp, C3 Smartphone Fundus Camera, and C3 Slit Lamp Imaging System, offer a novel approach to diagnosing eye diseases such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, corneal infections, ocular surface disorders, and other eye conditions that can lead to blindness.

Moreover, their upcoming product, the C3 Surgery Recording System, is designed for recording eye surgeries. It completes the range of ophthalmic diagnostic tools, from screening in low-resource areas to recording procedures in operating theaters.

Established in 2019 by Yash Nagarsheth, C3 MedTech is headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The startup focuses on manufacturing high-quality medical devices, catering to the needs of the healthcare industry with innovative and reliable solutions for medical professionals and patients.

Furthermore, C3 MedTech was previously incubated at the Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

The Ahmedabad-based startup also secured multiple grants, including BIG’17 from the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Government, and other grants from the IIT Madras Incubation Cell. Pune-based investment advisory firm INFSPL assisted C3 in securing the recent funding.

Commenting on the same, a representative from Industrial Metal Powders said, “Investing in C3 Med-Tech aligns with our vision of supporting impactful healthtech innovations. Their AI-enabled devices have the potential to significantly improve eye care and prevent blindness on a large scale.”

Recent Investment Deals in Healthtech Sector

Recently, Lucknow-based healthtech startup Docplix raised INR 1.2 Cr in a bridge funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures (IPV), a Gurugram-based angel investment firm.

Docplix plans to use the funds for product development, AI integration, and market expansion. The startup aims to enhance its electronic health record (EHR) system with advanced AI capabilities to improve decision support and patient care and to expand its market reach to larger clinics and hospitals.

Additionally, Bengaluru-based biotech startup Mynvax secured fresh funding of INR 21.63 Cr (approximately $2.6 million) in an extended Series A round led by Inviga Healthcare Fund. Inviga Healthcare Fund led the round with an investment of INR 15 Cr, while Legacy Assets LLP contributed INR 2 Cr. The remaining capital came from 27 other investors.
