The CoE’s inaugural project will center on developing a multi-modal AI tool designed to predict short-term clinical changes in pneumonia patients requiring intensive care.

5C Network, India’s leading AI radiology startup, has entered into a strategic partnership with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), a premier institution for medical education and healthcare, to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) at MAHE’s headquarters in Manipal, Karnataka.

The collaboration signifies a major step forward in advancing AI-driven healthcare innovations and research in India.

The Centre of Excellence aims to develop, test, and implement AI solutions that address critical clinical challenges, to improve diagnostic accuracy and enhance patient outcomes.

Strategic Partnership to Revolutionize Healthcare

The formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between 5C Network and MAHE marked the beginning of this transformative initiative.

The ceremony was attended by Kalyan Sivasailam, Founder and CEO of 5C Network, and Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, along with other senior leaders from the institutions.

Kalyan Sivasailam highlighted the importance of the partnership in leveraging AI for diagnostic improvements.

“Our collaboration with MAHE provides the ideal ecosystem to develop clinically validated AI tools that address critical healthcare challenges,” he said.

Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh emphasized MAHE’s commitment to integrating technology into healthcare, noting, “The AI Centre of Excellence will bridge the gap between technology and medicine, improving patient care and fostering innovation-driven education.”

The CoE’s inaugural project will center on developing a multi-modal AI tool designed to predict short-term clinical changes in pneumonia patients requiring intensive care.

Pneumonia remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly in resource-limited settings.

The AI tool will integrate radiological imaging and clinical data with machine learning models to enhance decision-making for clinicians.

It aims to provide early predictions of clinical deterioration, enabling timely interventions and improving the efficiency of intensive care workflows.

Advancing AI in Indian Healthcare

The establishment of the AI Centre of Excellence represents a pivotal step toward addressing critical healthcare challenges in India.

By combining 5C Network’s expertise in AI with MAHE’s strong foundation in medical research and education, the collaboration is expected to lead to impactful advancements in healthcare delivery.

The initiative will also promote knowledge transfer, offering students and clinicians hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI technologies.

Tools developed at the Centre will undergo clinical validation within MAHE’s hospital system, ensuring their scalability and relevance across healthcare institutions nationwide.
